Again!?!

November 16, 2012

So,
She did end up having to have the procedure done, which means that she had the 2 sections of dead skin on each side cut out and the wound reclosed.  Holly and I watched this whole procedure and I do still stand that from a technical standpoint it was no big deal but from the standpoint of a handyman/worship leader's and a graphic designer's standpoint...lets just say we both had to sit down.  O.M.G. I saw my wife's pectoral muscle. From the inside. Holy...moley. That was intense, to say the least.  She made a little half-moon cut directly above the existing incision to remove the offending skin, and the the bottom "margin" is the existing incision itself. That was nice because in the process of stretching, yes I said stretching, like a twin-sized sheet over a king sized bed, she joined the new edge of the upper skin to edge of the lower skin which was already a newly forming scar.  So basically there is a scar in the same place, its just that 3 of the 4 inches of scar on each side are now full of new sutures.  It was a fascinating and wholly gag-worthy process.  Either way, she handled it like a champ, as usual, and we just got it done.

She ALSO got her drains out!  I suppose you may or may know that she had two drains inserted in her body, one on each side.  As we found out today, they enter her body just below the armpit and toward the back and then it goes around to the front, under the expander that they inserted to make room for the eventual permanent implant and then up in between the boobies toward her throat.  Which means, you guessed it, they had to PULL THEM OUT!  Blegh...sorry, vomited just a touch in my mouth.  She said it was the creepiest weiredezoid feeling because she felt is slide all the way out from her sternum. Grooooosssss.

However, that is wonderful because they are OUT and that is so much of a relief because she's been wearing this super sexy surgical bra with velcro and zippers and hooks and stuff, on which the two drain bulbs have been hanging.  Its been super annoying for her and uncomfortable and they bang against the wounds and press on her chest when she is wearing anything other than super loose PJs.  I cant even tell you how much of a relief it is to have those out!

So folks, we are doing really well, it potentially will be a long few days because sleeping is already hard because when she lays on her back to sleep, that leaves gravity pulling downward on already tight and sore chest muscles and skin and such and now it is that much tighter.  I mean, I'm telling you after the doc cut out the dead skin, she had to pull Ade's skin an extra half an inch together to close that new hole.  It was...impressive. Impressively horrifying. Impressively horrifyingly cool...I don't know, I can't decide

Anyway, please pray for her for sleep and for her skin to relax and stretch and heal and stay infection free.  Ade is taking another 5 days of antibiotic as well as keeping an antibiotic salve on the wound for a few days. No one is actually worried about infection, but better safe than sorry for sure!

Have a wonderful weekend folks, happy Friday and thanks for your support and prayer...we love you!
