The end of a long day...

This damn computer and internet connection...I have typed this update 3 times and every time I lose it because the guest internet connection times out...guess I should type faster or less or something.

Short and sweet - she is doing great.  The resident came in at one point and although he is an awkward little turd, he did say that everything looks just as it should he was pleased.  He made some haphazard comment about the fact that she looked drowsy after being on her back for 12 hours and having a major surgery during which they pump her full of major narcotics, jack around with her muscles, insert all sorts of foreign bodies, give her anti-nausea meds, stool softeners, antibiotics, put a hose into the main artery in her neck feeding her heart...weird that she would be drowsy.  It was just frustrating because he made the comment that maybe we should change the med or dosage and then didnt offer a suggestion and said, "welp, see ya tomorrow."  Gee, thanks doc.

The nurse however was entirely wonderful.  She said of course you are drowsy, there is no reason to be concerned because she was lucid, alert, responding, talking, her vitals were great and again...OF COURSE SHE WAS DROWSY!

Anyhow...she is doing so so well.  Like I said, she is talking and was watching a little tv, she ate some chips and drank some tea and water and was cracking jokes and smiling a little.  In the last hour she was able to sit up and look around and go to the bathroom.  She's a dang trooper and I'm so proud of her.  I told her that and she tried to feed me some crap about how she hadnt done anything today to warrant anyone being proud of her, so fear not...I set her straight ;-)

Thats enough for now...be encouraged by this.  She is doing really really well, she is looking forward to seeing some folks tomorrow and getting on with healing and life.

Love this girl so much...it was crazy how much I loved seeing her eyes when she opened them for the first time in recovery.  Just made my heart do backflips.  She's gonna be fine folks, she is going to be more than fine.  We have a long road, but we're going to walk it together and come out the better for it.

Love you...Justus out.
